Initially created in 1898 by E Gomme it wasn’t until 1952 when Grandson and designer Donald Gomme created a furniture range for the masses that evolved the company into the G Plan that we know and love today. The company were pioneers of modular furniture and understanding every buyer’s unique needs. However, the mid to late 1950s saw a change in pace and a hankering for the glamorous sophistication of Italy, the country that inspired hip café bar culture, cool fashions for men and women, and luxurious interiors
G plan furniture has been noted for many years for its sound construction and excellent design. G Plan – E. Gomme Ltd was based in High Wycombe, England, a major center of British furniture manufacturing. The company was revered for its range of high-quality sideboards, tables, and other cabinet goods and for pioneering the concept of furniture sets designed and made to match but with the possibility of buying singular items rather than a suite.
